TLC graces the cover of V Magazine sporting their signature style and tell-it-like-it-is attitudes. And we just love that these ladies are back. Of course this comes on the heels of the VH1 original movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story and an accompanying greatest hits collection, 20, which delivered a new single, “Meant To Be.” Written by Ne-Yo, the song, according to Thomas, “sums up the whole 20 years of the relationship between the three of us and the ongoing relationship between T-Boz and myself.”
T-Boz and Chilli revealed some behind the scenes juiciness about filming CrazySexyCool the TLC biopic on VH1. While pulling costumes was a somewhat seamless process, when it came to the fittings, not all the actresses in the film were created equal, according to T-Boz. “Lil Mama wore Lisa’s [costumes], because she was that size, but the other two are more top heavy, because, you know, we’re the tittiless crew, T-L-C, Titty-Less Crew, so those outfits had to be re-created.”
But when it comes to abs, don’t expect to see Chilli covering up hers any time soon. “I’m going to be 85 years old, still with a six pack,” she says. “I’m not playing. I’m going to have these abs until I go home to Jesus.” Amen to that sister!
And no matter how much time passes, the duo will always aim to empower women with their songs. “I don’t think you can ever have enough records about self-esteem and loving yourself and not taking no crap, especially females,” says Chilli. “That girl-power thing is just missing [in music] right now. And it’s not like we’re in the studio trying to make songs like this—we’re naturally like that, so it naturally comes. We’re still being who we are. And be saying that, it’s going to help a lot of people. And that’s all we care about. We want jams to make you jam but at the same time make you think.”
